"Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric, illusive, god-like feature that only the special among us will ever taste. It's something that truly exists in all of us." If you know me, you know I am highly motivated by Will Smith and this is one of my favorite quotes of his. I started this blog post with that quote to let you know that you have the potential to be great, but what you do in this life will determine if you live up to that potential. I just want you to know that you are more than capable of doing great things because there is something inside you that yearns to be great already.
I believe that thing inside you is your dream and I believe the only way to truly be great is to follow that dream regardless of what society says. "If people aren't laughing at your dreams, your dreams aren't big enough." Don't be discouraged if society tells you that your dreams are impossible because those are the same people that will say, "I knew him/her," when your dreams become a reality. Oftentimes the people who laugh at your dreams are people that hate their current situation and wish they had the courage to start something new. Oftentimes these people are people you don't aspire to be like, so why does their opinion matter? Protect your dream.
Don't give up on your dream because it seems impossible. Don't give up on your dream because it's been hard. Don't give up on your dream because you're in pain. Eric Thomas says, "You're already in pain, get a reward from it!" Lastly, don't give up on your dream because of what people think. Society is full of miserable people who just want company and the moment you start listening to society's plans for your life is the moment you become another person who didn't live up to their potential to be great. Protect your dream.
